Why is Your Vision Declining?

When you were young, you see the crystal world with your crystal eyes. However, with time passing by, you need eyeglasses, contacts, prescription glasses to help you see better. Do you know why? Check out the five reasons for your vision delination.

In recent years, the vision of primary and middle school students has been universally declining, which has caused more concern of the community. The decreased vision in them may be led by medical, physiological, genetic and other internal factors, or by some external factors such as environment, learning burden and living habits. So, what, on earth, has resulted in the decline of vision?

Firstly, in recent years, with the increase of one-child in families and increasing employment pressure of university students, parents start too early to think about the future of their children, making today’s children study in advance, even in kindergarten, many children about 3 or 4-year-old began to read and write. However, they neglect that the eyeball of normal people won’t mature until 20-24 years old. As for a 3 or 4-year-old child, his eyes are tender enough that they can no longer focus on the affordability. If one began to focus on study for a relatively long period of time, it doubtlessly does great harm to eyes.

Secondly, extra-curricular reading font is too small. In primary and secondary schools, the word on existing teaching materials, even at the bottom of page or at the end of notes, is generally not less than the size of 5th characters, and the lower the grade, the greater the word will be. This is fully consistent with characteristics of the eye development in primary and secondary students and is conducive to students to protect their eyesight. However, the current extra-curricular reading materials, especially those study guide books, are often printed with the 5th or 6th characters, resulting in rapid decline of students’ eyesight.

Thirdly, heavy burden causes many children to spend too much time on close-quarter studying. At present, the burden of students is actually increasing every passing day. Due to excess homework, they must spend at least three hours to finish it; besides, they have to attend extra tutorial classes, making them worn out every day until 23 o’clock. Such long-period close quarters, undoubtedly, bring even greater burden to eyes, resulting in declining eyesight as a result.

Fourthly, poor-quality or inappropriate eyeglasses: At present, after students become short-sighted, they often choose to wear myopia glasses or do laser surgery to improve visual acuity. However, eyeglasses, as a result of their cheap price and convenience, have become the main target of most people. But currently in the market, there are enormous models to choose from, and the quality of them, in general, is difficult to distinguish, thus, some primary and secondary school students are incapable to choose appropriate ones in high quality, aggravating the decline in eyesight.

Fifthly, a long-time exposure to television and computer leads to eye fatigue. Contemporary school students, especially urban primary and secondary students, are growing up in front of TV and computer. Since “Gossip Girl”, “Prison Break” and other wonderful programs have attracted and tempted many children to fling into internet and TV. Many would sit in front of the computer for at least 2 hours, without moving, which makes cilia muscle keep in a high long-term tense, easily leading to the decline of vision.

Basic eye exercise can help release the fatigue of you eyes, and prevent further declining, but as long as your vision affect your daily life, you should get prescription glasses as soon as possible.
